Wozownia Art Gallery, Toruń: Recovered

Ludomir Franczak

Curated by: Małgorzata Jankowska

„Recovered” is an installation based on collecting images typical of private atlas. The exhibition is composed of few parts/chapters. They include photographs, drawings, collages and sounds from the past, which evoke old memories and initiate new fantasmatic narrations.

Ludomir Franczak is a collector of objects, images and stories. Usually they are recovered fragments of the history. Random images, which in the artist’s “collection” gain new meanings,  in strange way create the wholeness. Artist’s story is like a historical conspiracy theory: it produces many intertwined plots composed of fragments. Some of them conduct to blind alleys, others terminate in unpredictable places. Common events become legends and exceptional stories turn into banal.

Ludomir Franczak is as multimedia artist and performer. He graduated from the Department of Fine Arts at the Nicolas Copernicus University in Toruń. He presents his project in galleries, theaters and public space. He cooperates with musicians (Marcin Dymiter, Robert Curgenven, Pogodno), visual artists (Magdalena Franczak, Karin Danielsson, Leo Palmestal). He deals with subject of memory and identity.
