Many of us will experience several cities during our lives as we are no longer tied to one place. We sometimes lose the sense of time and space when we arrive somewhere on a holiday with nothing but one bag, yet end up staying for months, even years. Until one day we realise that the time has come to leave again. And again the changing urban scenes flash in front of our eyes, all different, but still the same. Once important relationships are left behind and forgotten like a passing dream. This constant movement and increasing flux of people coming and going has inspired the exhibition, I Had a Dream in Berlin and Woke Up in Reykjavik: You might be here now, but tomorrow you will be gone.

However, living in the same city or even on the same street does not mean a shared perception of particular surroundings. Depending on the lived experiences and memories, good or bad, the same elements will touch each of us differently and in the end, leave us with a personal interpretation. Throughout the work of these artists is reflected a sense of various urban representations and perceptions, sometimes anxious or even violent, sometimes dreamy and mature. All of them experience unique realities, parallel worlds side by side, which are expressed in their videos filmed in places such as Germany, Greece, Poland, Iceland, Croatia, Israel and Montenegro. For some pieces the material was shot during a short period of time in one location, whereas for some it took years and multiple journeys.

The videos will be exhibited from 24th until 26th of November at Galerie Vernon.
