SALON VIDEO’s first edition takes place at ALERT Studio on 26th and 27th of April, between 5.00 and 10.00 pm.

Salon Video is a platform for showcasing video art in Romania, through a constant and accessible program. Following an open call for + a few personal invitations we have selected a group of video works which cover a wide range of themes and mediums, thus becoming a relevant collection for the present moment.

Dragos Stefan (CT), Eliodor Moldovan (Tg Mures), Tatiana Fiodorova (Chisinau), Floriana Genes (IS),  Raluca Croitoru  (CT), Simion Cernica (B/LA), Florin Bobu (IS), Catalin Burcea (B), Liliana Basarab si Costel Chirila (B/IS), Alina Buga (B) are among the 19 artists included in the program.

Salon Video wishes to expose the interested public to a variety of video works and, in the same time, to present the works of Romanian artists in an international context. The event takes place every 2 months, and each edition partners with a foreign artists’ group with which video works are exchanged. For the first edition we are exchanging video works with the artist-run space ClarkHouse from Mumbai, India.

They have sent us 15 videos that will be presented among the works of  Romanian artists. At each edition, Salon Video will look for new ways of presenting and experiencing video art, in various locations (including, but not limited to art galleries and artist-run spaces). We encourage proposals for collaboration from interested organizations or individuals.

ALERT studio is an independent project initiated by Raluca Demetrescu Alina Buga and Catalin Burcea in order to create a platform of research and promotion of contemporary artistic production. Taking on the function of alaboratory space, Studio Alert proposes a meeting between artists, ideas, directions and speeches from different areas of conceptual and cultural spaces. Critical thinking and interrogation are important and valued as research methods in the contemporary cultural and artistic field.

ALERT studio stands as a gallery project, connecting three areas of artistic exploration – PINK | RED | WHITE – into one space. But these coordinates do not mean indexing, labeling and restriction. They may intersect, combine in new shades, and may always communicate and trigger debates.
