ROTOR, Graz: BLACK SEA CALLING

Artist-in-Residence Exchange Programme

BLACK SEA CALLING is an Artist-in-Residence Exchange Programm between 9 art institutions based in countries around the Black Sea and 5 art institutions in  Austria in 2012, with a concluding exhibition and publication in 2013.

Visual artists living and working in Austria are invited to apply for a one-month-residency in one of nine countries around the Black Sea (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Roumania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine), taking place during the year 2012.
The deadline for applications ends on August 15, 2011.

Nine artists from the countries of the Black Sea Region are invited to come to Austria as Artists-in-Residence and will be accommodated and supported by art institutions in five different cities and linked to the respective local art scenes. The partner institutions from the Black Sea area proposed groups of five artists to the Austrian partner institutions from which they selected ‘their’ visiting artists.

The Austrian artists were selected on the basis of an open call for artists based in Austria. From the applications submitted, the host institutions from the Black Sea area could choose ‘their’ artist out of the list of artists proposed.
