Night of Museums on May 18th in Belgrade

Museum Night

The tenth jubilee edition of Museum Night will be held on Saturday 18 May 2013 from 6pm till 2am.

During one single night 55 locations in Belgrade and 68 towns in Serbia will bring together 150 cultural institutions – museums, galleries and exhibition spaces.

Jubilee Museum Night is part of a larger but younger event, the European Night of Museums, which will gather this year 40 countries and over 3,000 museums.

10th Museum Night will open the doors of cultural institutions in Belgrade, Novi Sad, Sabac, Uzice, Krusevac, Zrenjanin, Svilajinac, Nis, Pozarevac, Sombor, Jagodina, Leskovac …

“For the tenth time we make every effort to prove that museums do have a lot to offer and we hope to encourage love and curiosity for the cultural heritage at least at some of the new audience. This year we celebrate the major jubilee – 10th edition of Museum Night. We are proud that we have managed to survive all these years; we have carved out a distinguished position in the cultural space of Serbia that is rather small and imperceptible. I believe that we have captured the hearts of our visitors with quality and creativity which will remain our main feature in future” says Ana Jovanovic, the founder of the Museum Night.

Last year, 9th Museum Night recorded almost half million of visits in 65 participating cities throughout Serbia.

Approaching the anniversary, this year’s Museum Night presents the existing museums in a new guise, initiates the establishment of the new ones, breaks down barriers and promotes cultural heritage.

National sponsor of this year's Museum Night is Viasat History Channel. The Jubilee friend is Mobile Telephony of Serbia (mt:s). Belgrade sponsor is Coca Cola Company.
