Elipsis Gallery: MICHEL COMTE – Fame

Elipsis Gallery is pleased to announce Fame, the second solo show of internationally renowned Swiss photographer Michel Comte to be held in Turkey, from 12 December until 25 January 2014. Fame covers a selection of Comte’s woks of film, art, show with stars, models, artists and actors & actresses, which are truly memorable. Michel Comte’s iconic portraits have become classic and remain timeless within his contemporary style. In the current media era his style stands out, encapsulating the essence of his approach to photography as he captures the individualism and the variability of the people on his portraits. We are able to experience a different expression of the very well known srong or delicate, humourous or serious, guarded or vulnerable. 

Comte’s photographs are currrently on show at Vienna Kunst Haus, and have been exhibited in museums such as; Venice Penny Guggenheim Museum, Verona Centro Internazionale di Fotografia, Munih Pinakothek der Moderne, Dusseldorf NRW-Forum and Zurich Museum für Gstaltung, and have also included the works to their collections. 

1954 Zurich- born Michel Comte studied painting restoration yet he started his career as a photographer. Comte became high in-demand name for Vogue. At the same time he did legendary shootings for magazines such as the Vanity Fair, GQ, Interview. He as a philanthropist also made photo interviews in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Iraq, Sudan and Afghanistan for International Red Cross to draw attention to the rapidly rising issues such as poverty and hunger in the world. He founded the Water Foundation Fund in order to create clean water sources for the third world countries.
