Helena Heinrihsone "HOT"

20.06. – 16.07.2013

"Dulcet" 2013, watercolour on paper, 105×75

„Hot! Hotter!

Like in the game, when players approach something hidden.

Very hot! It is found!

The new motive is found – P a n s i e s !” Helena Heinrihsone

In Helena Heinrihsone’s solo exhibition „Hot” her latest works in watercolour technique will be shown, which will also introduce a new flower motive – pansies.

It’s not only a new motive in the creative work of Helena Heinrihsone, but a new motive and a new liberation in Latvian painting, too.

Zane Iltnere "Exhibition"

Māksla XO" Gallery from 20.06. to 16.07.2013

"Journey" 2013, oil on canvas, 60×40

That is a very intimate painting – secretive, intriguing, with a narrative content and visual colourfulness. Sometimes the surface of the paintings has been several times glazed with a varnish, but at other times matted and many-layered where a part of the upper surface of the painting has been removed thus revealing the underneath paint that is an opponent colour to the upper paint. Oil painting where trowel laid areas and scratches are contrasted with light touches of a brush. Those are landscapes and still lives where there are only some objects. The main accent is put on the colour and mood.

Each painting of Zane Iltnere is as one – solitary and self-sufficient, painted for that specific moment, feelings, memories that arrive while the canvas still remains on the easel. And maybe exactly because of that the works of Zane Iltnere have never been exhibited together.

Zane Iltnere graduated from the Latvian Academy of Art (1980 – 1991), she had been studying at the workshops of the painters Eduards Kalnins and Boriss Berzins. Zane Iltnere participates in group exhibitions since the year 1983 from which the most important are – Baltic Young Artists’ Triennial (1988), „Portraits and Self-Portraits” (1989), „Autumn” (1987 -2007), „Spring” (1991 – 1997), the 1st General Latvian Art Exhibition (1990), „The Drunken Ship” (1994), „The Ship Again Drunken” (1995), "Shunt" (2010), "Painting in Latvia 1950-1990 from Collection of  the Artists’ Union of Latvia"(2010), "European Cities in the Paintings of Latvian Artists" (2010-2011).

The paintings of Zane Iltnere have been included in the public collections: the Latvian National Museum of Art (Riga), the Artists’ Union of Latvia (Riga), Swedbank Contemporary Art Collection (Riga).
