"Cut&Paste" Collage Exhibition – Gallery Ilayda

Gallery Ilayda opens its doors with the “first” exhibition centered on the art of collage, Copy-Paste, from June 8 until August 31.

Being beyond a mere group exhibition and standing in homage to the art of collage, the Copy-Paste exhibition brings together artists from different generations and disciplines such as Baysan Yüksel, Damla Özdemir, Gamze Taşdan, Hüseyin Rüstemoğlu, Muharrem Çetin, Neslihan Koyuncu, Özge Enginoz, Rafet Arslan and Sezgi Kuttaş.

Focused on the “art of collage”, which has been one of the most important aesthetic expression instruments of the modern art over a century, the Copy-Paste takes a step to fill the gap of an art branch that is not very much explored in our country.

Baysan Yüksel; the artist, exploring a contemporary collage language, brings together illustration and the art of collage, tells stories by intermingling personal experiences and creative mediums.

Damla Özdemir; places the collage portraits created side by side skillfully on the wooden surfaces stacked on top of each other and embroiders each layer.

Gamze Taşdan; her works salute the classical collage tradition and presents a colorful world of contemporary fashion, advertisement and architecture images.

Hüseyin Rüstemoğlu illustrates the isolation of individuals in modern society in his collages/paintings with a poetic rhythm and by using the body.

Muharrem Çetin winks at poster art with his collage works created with by dynamic style and by creating multi-part surfaces.

Neslihan Koyuncu, offers different portraits by brining together today’s popular medium, the cut/sewed fabric pieces, by using drawing and painting.

Özge Enginöz skillfully uses visual materials in a varying in a wide range from the body to the mythology by pasting acetate on paper and attempts to experiment in fields close to abstract art.

Rafet Arslan; the artist refers to his works of art, created by intermingling different disciplines/mediums, as the “mutant art” and known as the standing creator of collage art in our country.

Sezgi Kuttaş offers her audience a collection of creative animal portraits made by using a wide range of rich materials.
