The site-specific installation of Ottó Vincze deals with one of the most enigmatic problem both for modern and sacral thinking – the myth of creation as the transformation between the immaterial and the material. The phrase “ex nihilo” originates from the Bible and means the birth of some physical out of nothing. This is relevant problem not only from religious but artistic point of view.

The materialization of the spirit is what forms the amorphous rendering some kind of order in chaos. The objects of Ottó Vincze referring to pop art elevate the theme playfully from the level of religious and philosophical discourses placing it to the exhibition space, where they make us contemplate viewing their special shapes and mystical symbols. The symbolic materials of the installations like ash, canvas and water presented in a more concealed form, guide our attention within this subject towards the interpretations of our own existence.

Vincze who usually creates large scale installations exhibits for the first time in the space of Ani Molnár Gallery. Working in a smaller scale exhibition space is a special situation for the artist, who applies his works for the architecture of the site also opening discussion between the separate pieces. This way the visitor may meet versatile interpretations of the misterium.
